Carl Giffney and Ruth E Lyons were invited as The Good Hatchery to exhibit at NCAD Gallery as part of the programme New Ecologies of Practice.
NCAD Gallery presents a series of new projects which represent the work of a number of artist led initiatives, working throughout Ireland, which embodies a new approach and a challenge to institutional visual arts programming.

The resulting work, Good Hatchery, is an installation comprising 3 elements; an operationing electric powered outdoor barrel sauna, 6 robes embroidered with the text ‘good hatchery’ and a vinyl text on the wall reading:
‘ * the good hatchery is an art space in the bog lands of north offaly. it is largely constructed from the materials of artworks that good hatchery artists have been commissioned to make throughout the years. its development is ongoing. ‘
The second phase of this work sees the sauna being transported to Offaly and installed in the yard of the Good Hatchery as a lasting resource to artists working there.
