savoir faire 212

.place gallery, wexford, ireland. 2010.

Savoir Faire 212 is a solo exhibition made at Place Gallery. For the exhibition, curator Paul Murnaghan invited The Good Hatchery to create a new work that was specific to Place and its context.

The resulting installation features a number of elements. Near the centre of the exhibition space stands an object that is heating water. Water can be drawn from it to fill a provided flask, although there is no encouragement to do so. Clouds of steam rise from this tower like structure when it boils at regular intervals and they linger around the exhibition space. Two framed images hang on the wall collecting condensation. Rumbling noises and metallic smells are created by the energy and substances changing form inside the insulated reservoir.
